அந்த நாள் ஞாபகம்
A village fair was organised on the 8 th of September 2019. The programme was inaugurated by Ms Padma Sridhar and Uma Shankar of Rhopsody Chennai.
Some of the features of the fair
- Inviting artisans to exhibit their skills - pot maker, mud doll maker, Mat weaver, saree weaver, garland maker and brass vilakku maker .A video clipping of brass making was shown
- Olden kitchen tools were exhibited - grinding stone vessels made of brass and eyam, The students and a few teachers brought all the vessels.
- Kolam competition was held for students and 3 prizes were given.
- A food court was organised with sale of items like kambam kuzh. Honey sweet, sugiyan, appam and kozhakattai. There were 3 stalls selling Karumbu juice, Cotton sweet and organic snacks.
- Silambu attam was done by girls from Govt girls school Sundara Perumal koil.
- 8 old instruments were played by a group from Munnavalakottai- udal, Ekkalam, sangu, thalam and wind instruments.
- All the students and some parents and staff from Matriculation school and college attended the function.
- What a wonderful concept-to reconnect our students to their rich traditional arts. It was so lovely to watch the eager and their enthusiasm.- Sheela Balaji, Trustee Swami Dayananda Educational Trust.
